Notes about this historic site
1 Whilst laying drains the foundation trenches of an old road were dug up in front of Radford Hall. The road is described as running from the Hall along the east side of the present road and then across Pringle Meadow in a NNE direction up to the Leam. The river today is quite deep at this point but may have been shallow enough to be forded before it was dammed up.

Comments
The person who actually discovered the road foundations, found them when he was digging drains at the river where it is thought that the road’s fording point was.
The meadow’s actual name is, “First Meadow”, rather than P(r)ingle Meadow. The definition of pingle is “a small piece of enclosed land”
