Notes about this historic site

‘Little Moat Close’ marked. Field name comes from Tithe Apportionment map 1748.
This document could not be located in the County Record Office.
The proximity of three other moats (PRN 2558, 2584 and 2567) makes the siting of a moat in this field rather unlikely, though the field name might arise from a neighbouring field being called ‘Moat Close’.

Find made in 1993: Henry VII (1485-1509) halfgroat, Canterbury mint, issued 1486-1504
