Notes about this historic site
1 At the N end of Rother Market, opposite Wood Street, stood a stone cross, which in the memory of the inhabitants stood to 0.7m to 0.9m. The foundations were still visible until recently.
2 In the Rother Market was a cross, the top of which was taken down in 1681.
3 The market place in Rother Street is now at the above grid reference. No cross exists there now.
