Ditches and gullies found during pipeline excavations indicate a field system of Romano-British date stetching south from the villa along the river.

Notes about this historic site
2 Elements of a field system contemporary with the villa were evident in each of the four sub areas, apparetnly laid out without respect to the earlier enclosures. The more substantive parallel ditches suggest that the field system extended for at least 500m to the south of Area B1 along the valley.
