Notes about this historic site
1 An archaeological evaluation at St Benedict’s R.C. High School recorded a shallow ditch from which the only find was a fragment of roof tile of medieval or early post medieval date. The ditch would appear to coincide with a crop mark (MWA 4713) running at right angles to and terminating the bands of ridge and furrow. This suggests the ditch formed part of a medieval field system.
