Possible Romano British or earlier field system

Description of this historic site

Several undated pits and gullies were uncovered during an excavation. They may belong to a pre-Roman field system. The site is to the east of Oak Road, Tiddington.

Notes about this historic site

1 An archaeological evaluation east of the Roman settlement (WA 8319) found several undated pits and gullies which may belong to a field system aligned on the trackway (WA 4675). The apparent relationship of the trackway to adjacent pit alignments (WA 4677, WA 4944) suggests that the system may be of pre-Roman origin. No Romano-British artefacts were found in the field walking survey.
2 Dating given as Iron Age to Romano British.
