I enjoy all types of dancing, including quickstep, bopping, foxtrot, tango, however my favourite was always waltz. I had dancing lessons from young age, with Silvia Atkinson who taught ballroom dancing. She was a strict teacher, but it meant that I became very good at it, and I could go ballroom dancing once or twice a week.

A ‘party animal’

I danced as often as I could, nearly always on Saturday nights in village halls. I would often dance in my home town Wilmcote, but I would also go to Wotton-Wawen and Bearley to name a few. I was as they say ‘a party animal’, and I had high standards. Any boys I danced with had to have long legs – a short legged partner simply wouldn’t do! I would go dancing with my friends, and we would dress up in special dancing dresses, paired with white flat dancing shoes.
