Notes about this historic site
1 On the 1842 tithe map, two fields are called Small Lime Pits, and Lime Pits, while a much smaller field to the south is called Nearer Lime Pits: a number of old sand pits are to be found in the vicinity, but no actual mention of lime pits is given.
2 Nothing is visible on the ground.
