Notes about this historic site
1 ‘The Chestnuts’ may have been the old manor house, but there appears to be no certain evidence about this. It is of 15th century origin, with a hall of two bays and two-storeyed solar and buttery wings. The upper floor and central chimney stack were inserted in the hall in the 16yh century or 17th century, but there have been many alterations since then.

Comments
My family and I moved to Water Orton in app 1956 and lived in the right half (as you look at it from the road) of The Chestnuts. It was a wonderful place to be a little. boy. We only stayed for two years but I have nothing but happy memories of our stay there.
