Dorridge is in the Solihull borough, and was originally the name given to the land that ran west from Knowle. Until the rise of the railway however, Dorridge did not exist as a village in the sense we know it today. The greatest part of its expansion was in the mid 19th century, after the Great Western Railway built its track in 1852.
