Until the Anker Flood Relief was built, Nuneaton flooded quite often – here are three photos of the floods from the 1950s and one showing the only flood marker we can find in town, dated 1932.

When I used to go to the High school my friends and I arrived at Bond Gate to find it flooded. A very kind young policeman took off his shoes and socks, rolled up his trouser legs and piggy backed us one at a time across the flooded road saving us from getting wet.
