I went to this school when I was 7 and 8 years old, so 1954 – 1956, when my father was stationed at CAD Kineton. My teachers were Miss Hime and Mr Knight. I loved it there and learned fast. Mr Knight got us constructing a mediaeval fort of cardboard. We learned our times tables by rote from large posters on the walls, because we were of several ages in one class. In the field nearby there were cows at pasture. At lunch we ate of pastel coloured plastic plates. In the summer the headmistress held a gala in the garden of her home, with country dancing and coconut shies.
My parents used to run the North End village shop. My grandmother told me how we moved into the old school house when the sale of the shop fell through and we were left homeless. I was 2years old at the time, so no idea if this was the same school house! would love to see photos of the old shop.
