I have an identical photo on a post card and my father has written, “Grandad Shakespeare’s Colliery, the year I was born.”
I also have a photo of William Brown Shakespeare holding a miner’s lamp.
I feel sure he was an employee…. Not an owner. It would be very interesting to know any further details
He died in Hastings New Zealand on 13th February 1942.
