Under the floorboards of the retail shop unit at 13a Old Square, Warwick (opposite the Old Post Office building) is a bricked circular well – which was discovered during a retail refurbishment; circa 2008. (In the position approximately “half past 10 o’clock” from entering through the street door; close to the back wall). Interestingly, heavy timbers surrounding the well entrance featured innate carving (including faces) and were most probably recycled from the timber framed building from the same site, lost during Warwick’s great fire.
