Notes about this historic site
1 Finds recovered from a pit included a small square bottle of ‘Hauthaways Peerless Gloss’, which was an oil-based shoe polish manufactured in Boston, USA in the early 20th century. Of similar date was a bottle of ‘Day’s Purified Driffield Oils’, which was medicinal oil used for horses, cattle and sheep to aid wound healing.
