Notes about this historic site

1 “Umberslade crosse which was a very stately stone crosse with a very high pillar of stone ye foundation of it is yett to be seene, it is upon a greene bank as one goeth to Umberslade Hall at ye end of Brownes Greene. I doe think one William Archer built” [included in a list of parish crosses compiled by Sir Simon Archer, 1581-1662, probably during the Civil Wars].
