Notes about this historic site

SP471579. From the enclosure act 1758, Lord Leigh was granted land.
It is said that he sent his men to level the land, but instructed them to leave the mound at the top as soldiers were buried there.
The name of this field on a pre-enclosure map (1758) was ‘Town Yempler’. Presumably this is a variation of Yemplough, Yemplow or Yemp-Low.
There are no visible remains (in 1979?)
Town Yempler and Farm Yempler are named on the map. Farm Yempler is the field immediately to the south of Town Yempler.
The grid reference given in source 1 gives a location outside the field.
