Notes about this historic site
1 During K Scotts excavation at Chilvers Coton in 1967-1971, site 18 produced structural remains suggesting a timber building c.12×4.5m. The clay floor had a rectangular hearth with a small opening. Adjacent to this was a small pit. Two samples from this were analysed and were found to consist of raw glaze and white lead. The floor was clean except for a few iron nails and an iron object.
