Notes about this historic site
1 Two Saxon pits and adjacent, probably contemporary, post holes were recorded to the north of a site evaluated by archaeological trial trenching. Saxon pottery, animal bones and charcoal was evident in both of the pits, indicating that they were probably refuse pits associated with settlement.
2 A single pit was further recorded in a watching brief on this site. It contained 16 sherds of Saxon pottery. It is considered to be the truncated remains of a refuse pit.
