Notes about this historic site
1 Excavations investigated spreads of Roman pottery which had been discovered in arable land threatened by motorway construction. Extensive trial trenching produced what seemed to be charcoal-burning sites of uncertain date. No stratified Roman material was found, and it would appear that any Roman structures must lie outside the course of the motorway.
