Notes about this historic site
1 Extensive earthworks of uncertain date. These consist of a large hollow with two islands. The E island has a causeway across the ditch. Further linear ditches exist to the S. Both islands appear too small for occupation and the most likely explanation, from surface observation only, is that this is a system of fishponds with fowl enclosures. Natural water would provide sufficient water to prevent stagnation.
