Notes about this historic site
1 Gale and Morton considered Dowbridge to be the site of Tripontium.
2 Bloxam enlisted the services of several Rugby schoolboys to assist in an investigation of the neighbourhood of the bridge, and their efforts were rewarded by the discovery of a great many fragments of pottery, tiles etc; a fine vase and three coins were found, which were undoubtedly Roman. Cossins inspected these at Rugby School Museum.
