Did there used to be a picture house, cinema in Long Street, not the Regal on the opposite side of Long St, used to go there with my sister in the 50s, went to Jenkins shop to get warm bread to eat when we were in. Does anybody know the name of this?
The Picturedrome was the cinema. Affectionally known as the flea pit. If you sat in the right seat at the back and didn’t like the film you could put your hand up and affect the light beam from the projector.
I was a regular here. Saw Bill Haley in ‘Rock around the Clock’ there in the day. The cheap seats were at the front the One n Nines and the rear were half a crown.
