My gg grandfather had this pub I believe in the 1870s – he was William Ashfield. I am descended from his son Robert Ashfield, who moved with his brother George to Great Bridge, Tipton. I am trying to find an old pic of the pub with maybe the family on there.
Julie Poole, my GGGGrandfather, William Ashfield from Shipston on Stour had sons named William, Robert and George. His son William moved to the USA in 1872. The next 3 generation had Edward, Edward Jr and Edward III, my father. I visited the black horse inn last week based on what you said, what a great time, everyone was so nice and welcoming. Sounds like we are related!
