My father worked at Arley colliery for a number of years. What year was the disaster described? 1950s? I’ve read the article on my phone, the print is very small. I do remember him talking about a bad roof fall and he’d had quite a narrow escape. My mother woke me up because she was worried about his very late return home. I still have his miner’s lamp and locker key.
