I lived in Green Lane from the time when the houses were built on the existing allotments (1956). My parents bought the house from new and owned the house for 50 years. When I was a child, Green Lane was flanked by a hedge opposite the houses. Beyond the hedge, was land that belonged to Warwick hospital with fruit trees, and a stable which was home to a couple of ponies. There was no lighting or drainage and, although within walking distance to the centre of town, it felt as though we were living in the countryside.
