The public house on the extreme left was called the 'Hen and Chickens and demolished shortly after the photograph was taken. Warwick House, next to it goes back to at least 1709 when the deeds describe it as a 'Coopers and Buttery', it was demolished in 1959 and rebuilt. 1865

I was born in Northfield Nursing Home, (where Cemex House now stands) and lived at 35 Sheep Street until 1951. Number 35 was the single fronted shop behind the street lamp (gas powered in this picture and replaced by electric lights in the late 1940s). The shop was a Tailors and Outfitters started by my Great Grandfather.
