LNWR locomotive 1914 ‘Invincible’ was a 4-4-0 Jubilee class F. W. Webb designed 4 cylinder compound rebuilt in September 1916 to an easier to maintain 2 cylinder simple engine under the direction of George Whale (removing the two outside cylinders seen in this illustration). 1914 was renumbered 1257 in 1920 so that a new ‘Claughton’ class 4-6-0 locomotive could take the 1914 number as an LNWR war memorial engine named ‘Patriot’
