Napton on the Hill. Tile kilns

Napton on the Hill. 'Setting' or filling a kiln with 'green' tiles. The kilns are fired slowly for the first two days, and the firing tested by the trial samples at the top (above the fire-bricks) which can be fished out without completely unsealing the kiln. In all, the firing takes six days and four nights, and the kilns are allowed to cool gradually. 1 950s | IMAGE LOCATION: (Warwickshire Museums. Photographic Collections.)
