My first address in life, No 1 Main Street. The house on the extreme left of the photo, old lady by the name of Timms lived next door. I was was to find out many years later she was a distant relative of ours.
Sadly much of this scene has been demolished. The thatched cottages to the left had gone when I was a child and the white building, the New Inn was demolished and rebuilt as a modern building in the 1930s and is now named the Caldecott Arms. The cottages at the far end of the photo bring many memories back, I knew the folk who lived in them quite well. They were demolished to build the British Legion Club, itself now long gone.
