The Blue Diesel Pullman from Birmingham to Paddington, Leamington Spa Station. March 1961
[This train is more likely to be a stopping train between Leamington and Birmingham or Coventry and not the Blue Diesel Pullman. The station is not the GWR
station which had four tracks and is therefore possibly the Avenue Road or Milverton Station]

This is definetely NOT the Blue Pullman which looked very similar in outline to the HST trains seen 20 years later. This is a two-car Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) at Milverton Avenue on a Nuneaton to Leamington service. The DMU is a Derby Lightweight unit which were very useful but were considered non-standard by British Railways and withdrawn after a comparatively short lifespan
Not a Blue Pullman or a Derby Lightweight, this is a twin set built by Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon (GRC&W), later known as a ‘Class 100’.
On the lower left of the front of the vehicle under the square is painted ‘3C’ – this was the code for Ryecroft Motive Power Depot where the vehicle was allocated. Ryecroft was given a new code in June 1960 – 21F, which suggests that image may have been taken earlier than March 1961.
See here for a similar view confirming the Milverton location.
