Notes about this historic site
1 To the south, south east and east of the castle are the earthwork remains of ridge and furrow cultivation. The ridge and furrow immediately to the east and south east of the motte defines a triangular enclosure attached to the castle which may have been used for agricultural purposes. The ridge and furrow respects the castle defences and provides a stratigraphic relationship between them and the landuse of the surrounding area. This triangular area is included in the scheduling of the castle site.
