Monks Well Reservoir 600m W of Watergall Bridge

Description of this historic site

The site of a reservoir dating to the Post Medieval period. It supplied water from a well to a house and is enclosed in a stone building. Above the doorway of the building is a date stone of 1697. It is situated 600m west of Watergall Bridge.

Notes about this historic site

1 A well (PRN 813) provides water which is piped to an arched reservoir 27m to the E, from where it flows to the house. On the lintel of the doorway of the reservoir is the date 1697.
2 The stonework of the second reservoir is intact and it is still possible to get inside through a wooden door across the opening. The Manor House still obtains its water from here.
