Findspot - a cake of lead was found in the area of the southern gateway at Chesterton Camp. The lead is of unknown date.

Notes about this historic site
1 A cake of lead was found in an unstratified position among the debris at the S gate of Chesterton. This may well be the result of robbing activities in the early Middle Ages. They may well have been stripping lead and melting it on the spot and one of these cakes got left behind, or of course it could have come from the construction of the gate.
