Notes about this historic site

Ground stone axe given to Warwick Museum. Found on site of houses at Whitnash. Thin section 21/ah.
Large thong-grooved axe or adze, Whitnash. A greywacke or quartzose ash, not Group XV, but almost certainly from the Lake District or Southern Uplands. It could well have originated as a glacial erratic.
Groove-hafted axe (Greywacke).
A grooved stone axe of an unusual type (illustrated).
