Albion House needle manufactory, Alcester Road

Description of this historic site

The site of a needle mill, Albion House needle manufactory which was in use during the Imperial period. It is known from documentary evidence and is marked on the Ordnance Survey map of 1905. It is situated 250m west of the cricket ground, Studley.

Notes about this historic site

1 Plot sold to Solomon Shrimpley, needlemaker, and Francis Priest, victualler, in 1831. Tenement, gighouse, stables, manufactory and outbuildings erected there mid 19th century. Subsequent documentation periodically refers to needlemakers throughout 19th century and into 20th century. Conveyancing documents show layout.
