I am revisiting this page as I am writing my life story and it begins here at the Monroe Devis maternity home on the 27th of November 1945, thanks to the generosity of Edith Devis, “thank you Edith” My birth certificate signed by Lucy Ellis, Registrar, with the 1 penny red stamp is still in perfect condition which is surprising as I have been traveling the world since I left home in 1962 and joined the Merchant navy. I am now retired in the north west of Australia.
I was born here as were my two brothers. My Mum always said it was a lovely place and they did keep you in for two weeks

I spent time as a patient in 1966. I was living in Stratford on Avon and was admitted with a toxaemic pregnancy. I remember its beautiful location so well. Unfortunately my condition deteriorated and I was transferred to the Warnford Hospital in Leamington Spa for a C-section. My son was born on 27th January 1966. He is a fit and and healthy 60yr old this year.j
