I went to Blackdown in 1964. I lived in Whinash at the time and used to catch the bus from the Doglands Whitnash Road with a girl called Katherine Simmonds who lived in Home Farm Crescent. She moved to Massachusetts with her family. Mrs Parkin was the school secretary, a lovely lady. Mr Morris was my history teacher.
I left Blackdown in 1964. Mr Morris was my history master too. Mr Ainsworth was Headmaster and was clever with the cane
Hi Tony, remember me? I was at Blackdown in the same form as you. Now 8n Cornwall teaching people to fly.
I also went to Blackdown and left in 71/72
Hi Steve, I did 6th Form Science with you – not forgetting Tom Ainsworth! Now living near Sheffield and Peak District – I go visiting down to Newquay most years.
Hi Martin, I took a level physics and maths with you remember. I’ve spent the last 40 years flying in Cornwall. How about you?
I attended Blackdown in the 1970s and then moved to America at age 12. I lived at 11 Albany Terrace in Leamington Spa. Sarah Smith, Jackie Guillemin and Christine Mines were my best classmates who I have lost contact with. I was in class 1CA2.
An absolutely atrocious experiment in education when the four schools in Leamington were merged. It became a living hell, every single day! Becoming a huge comprehensive school in the name of ideology ruined four good schools. I visited the site recently. This school has gone. I am very pleased that this memorial to hell has been destroyed. If anyone is interested, you can read more in my autobiography.
