Milcote lies near to the River Avon, a couple of miles south-west from Stratford-upon-Avon. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as being a medium settlement of 12 households. There is a disused railway station at Milcote, and the old line from the Great Western Railway has been converted to a greenway.
