Welcome to Warwickshire Bytes

Exciting developments in technology mean that we can now offer volunteering opportunities online for our new digitally-focussed project, Warwickshire Bytes. This allows you to volunteer from the comfort of your own home!

Warwickshire Bytes will create an innovative digital heritage festival, celebrating the history of Warwickshire in 100 stories. Because it’s now easier for people to get online, Warwickshire’s County Record Office and Museum Service want to make more of our collections available to readers the world over.

As a ‘virtual volunteer’, you will be working at home in your spare time with images of archive materials we will share with you online. All you need is:

  • An email address and access to the internet.
  • Basic computer and typing skills.
  • An eye for detail.

We will supply the rest. If you have never taken part in a volunteer project before, don’t worry! We will supply all the materials and instructions you need to get going and there will be guidance and support available if you get stuck. Why not try something new?

Virtual volunteering can improve your work-related skills, enhance your confidence when looking for a job, and help you gain knowledge and experience in new areas. A large group of volunteers will also enable us to tackle those big jobs that otherwise we could never finish.
