Now 80, but for a number of years a Coundon resident, as kids we played many hours in “Corley Woods”.  I went to
King Henry VIII in Coventry (1948-55) then on to St John’s College, Oxford (1957). I learned, I do not recall how, that Corley Woods was owned by St John’s College.

On the Ordnance Survey map it is named Lord’s Wood but, Archbishop Laud was President in Charles I time of St John’s College and was also Chancellor of the University (later executed for presumed Papist leanings).

Is Lord a mis-spelling of Laud? And does Corley Woods belong to St John’s College, Oxford? I’ve never had this confirmed.
