Hello,
I understand that William Hitchcox, executant stonemason to architect Sanderson Miller was living in the Grange House Ratley in 1745, when he was building the Radway Tower. I have had trouble locating this house but have now found from the Hearth Tax Returns that an earlier William Hitchcocks was paying tax on nine hearths in Ratley in 1663. As this was clearly a large house, I am wondering whether “Grange House” might have been connected with Ratley Grange? Any help or suggestions would be most welcome.

Good question. Do you live in Ratley? Grange House Ratley is down the hill.
My ancestors lived in the farm cottages at Ratley Grange. Was Ratley Grange and Radley Grange one of the same? Also any photos of Radley Grange please
Radway Grange was at the foot of the hill and was once the home of architect Sanderson Miller
Ratley Grange was at the top of the hill, opposite the Edgehill Tower
I also have ancestors who lived at Ratley Grange. These were the Hitchcox family, namely William Hitchcox. There were two of this name – father and son. Love to hear from others.
