This fourth Meeting Point programme follows a pilot project in 2016, Meeting Point2 in 2017/18, and Meeting Point3 in 2019/20, which saw museums in the North East, North West and Yorkshire commission new contemporary artworks inspired by the respective museums and their collections.
Contemporary artist commissions
Led by contemporary arts agency Arts & Heritage, museums in the Midlands will now present new artist commissions as part of Meeting Point.
The bodies and artists taking part in Meeting Point in the Midlands are:
- Cromford Mills, Matlock, Derbyshire. Working with Hetain Patel
- Middleport Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent. Working with Nuala Clooney
- Naseby 1645, Northamptonshire. Working with Tom Adams and Dan Scott
- Warwickshire County Record Office. Working with Lady Kitt
Artworks in unexpected places
Funded by Arts Council England through Arts&Heritage’s National Portfolio Organisation funding, Meeting Point presents artworks in unexpected places and supports small and medium scale museums to commission artists, forging new relationships between the contemporary arts and heritage sectors.
We are very excited and proud to be the first out and out archive service represented on the programme.
