The main landowners in the village were the Catesby family of Ashby St. Ledger. William Catesby of Ladbroke was next to Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. Recent years have seen the (rumoured to be haunted) Ladbroke Hall owned by the Rootes family, of car manufacturing fame. The Second World War saw a Prisoner of War camp set up in the village.
