My grandmother lived in the last house up the steps and was the post lady and house keeper for the Lord that live behind the building’s happy memories of my childhood ❤️
My late grandparents Albert and Dorcas Conopo lived in Fern Cottage . Their only son Alistair grew up playing over the fields and within the blacksmiths and mixing with locals at the local public house, The Union Jack. Dad was born in 1931, and I have pictures of street parties , and of the changes of the cottage to present day . Many of the properties where rented from the farm. Granddad’s brother, Leonard and sister , Teresa (Cis or Sis), also lived within the village until their deaths in the late 70s, all are buried either at Monks Kirby or at Brinklow. Fond memories of visiting and every time I pass childhood memories flood back.
