Ex-MR 2F 0-6-0 No 3696 stands at the up platform with single coach on a local passenger working to Towcester. One of a number of ex-MR and LNWR locomotives that rapidly replaced the SMJ locomotive stock during the late 1920s and early 1930s No 3696 was built to the MR’s class 1873 design by Sharp Stewart in May 1901 and lasted in service for just over a half-century being withdrawn from Barrow-in-Furness shed in November 1953 to be scrapped shortly afterwards.
