Talking to my mum today, she used to work at Shottery Hall when she was 18 – she is now 95. Mum even remembers the owners and also how long the drive was, she showed my which was her bedroom with tear filled eyes. Any more information or pics would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Christine,
This is the first time I have seen a picture of Shottery Hall where my 3 times Great Grandmother Cecilla Emily Bradford was born. I’ m afraid I do not have any further background information or pictures unfortunately for your Mum. If you have anything on the family it would be greatly appreciated.
My 3rd cousin, 3 times removed Rev. John Day Collis died there in 1879 (Headmaster of Grammer School of King Edward VI, Bromsgrove, Worcester
Fellow of Worcester College (1843) then vicar of Stratford on Avon). His widow was a school teacher there in the 1881 census, and her first husband Rear Admiral Douglas Curry also died there in 1869
The Carter family lived here for many years and it was inherited by my husband’s uncle Donald Campbell-Baldwin, who left it to his brother Neil who moved there in 1965. My husband’s stepmother sold it after Neil died and it burnt down when empty. There are now new houses on the site.
Hi
Pleased to see these responses to my first post .
Mum is still with us , she will be 100 in March .
Like I said mum worked at Shottery Hall when she was 18 , she worked for a magistrate and remembers his name as Carter , she said he was really nice to her . My mum had to send wages home to her step mother , that was until he found out , he soon put a stop to that .
Hi,

I do know the Campbell-Baldwin family lived there in the 70/80s. Can’t find any info about the fire.
