Member of Local Board of Health 1890-94; Urban District Council 1895-98; Defeated in election of 1899, re-elected in 1904. Made Vice-chairman in 1910 and resigned same year. Member of Library Committee 1891-1900, member of Board of Guardians 1894-1910. Supported Wesleyan Church.
