I recall the shops were (from left) a greengrocer; a newsagents (initially run by Bill Hood in the 1950s); a grocery (Wilmots) and a fish and chip shop (Winnie’s). The Mancetter Library was a green painted wooden structure in the corner of the school field. The school was a delighgtful building with a large playing field. we lived in Manor Road and my parents lived in Lewis Close after retirement.

There used to be a little wooden hut next door to this building which was the library. They have now recently built new bungalows on the site.
