A quick note –
The portrait on the right is Balthasar Gerbier’s portrait of Susan Villiers (1583-1652), Countess of Denbigh. It was seemingly sold Sotheby’s, New York, 21 May 1998, alongside a portrait of her husband William Feilding, Earl of Denbigh. This link explains more.
I have not managed to discover the identity of the gentleman on the left. He doesn’t seem to be her husband William, and isn’t the painting sold in 1998.
